According to the CSU necropsy: "The cause of death in this dog is acute hemopericardium (blood filling the sac surrounding the heart)
and hemoabdomen (blood filling the abdomen) due to rupture of a hemangiosarcoma.
Hemangiosarcoma is a very common tumor of the blood vessels in older dogs. Cardiac
hemangiosarcomas that bleed into the surrounding pericardial sac cause acute cardiac failure and
death."
